Pond Views in the Wellington Neighborhood, Iowa City
The Wellington neighborhood is set in a park like setting in the Village Green Subdivision, north of Hwy 6 on the east side of Iowa City. Many of the homes in the Wellington neighborhood are newer ranch style single family homes and luxury condominiums. The neighborhood is very popular for buyers retiring to Iowa City and to sellers downsizing their homes to one level living. Ranch style luxury condominiums in the Wellington neighborhoods are a very popular option, offering low maintenance living, typically with the master bedroom and laundry room on the main level.
Homes in Lucas Elementary Neighborhoods
The Wellington and Village Green neighborhoods are in the Lucas Elementary School District. Even if you don’t have school age children, searching for homes by school name is often the most efficient way to search for homes in a smaller group of neighborhoods. The plan was to create a search specifically for the Wellington Neighborhood, but in a real estate market tight on inventory it makes more sense to cast a wider net and include other neighborhoods close by to avoid you getting an empty link when you click to view homes.
To put some perspective on the distance of homes on the east side, Iowa City is not that big and from the Wellington Neighborhood via Muscatine Ave it’s about a 10 minute commute to downtown Iowa City. Schools, parks and shopping are all easily accessible. Plus it’s an easy commute to the UI Hospital on the west side, or Mercy Hospital on the east side. The Wellington Neighborhood and Village Green is NOT close to is the Interstate. That’s worth keeping in mind if you’re relocating to the Iowa City area and that’s something that’s important to you.
These photos were taken while I was out with clients looking at ranch style luxury condominiums in the Wellington Neighborhood. The prices of the condos we looked at ranged from $230,000 – $299,000. I was standing on the deck above when I took the photo of the fish. They were definitely super-sized and bigger than they appear in the photo!
