A little background info about Denise

More than likely you’ve come to this page to try and figure out whether or not we’ll be a good match when it comes to either finding you a new home or selling the one you have in the Iowa City area. So where do I start to help you with that decision? If you’re looking for someone who knows the Iowa City real estate market, I’ve definitely got that covered. How about whether I’ll do a good job representing you? Let me just say that I do walk the talk, (and I have scores of clients who will back me up on that if you want to contact me for references). I’m all about providing the best representation possible for clients.  For a start, I won’t act as a dual agent in a transaction. I am happy to represent you as a buyer as your Buyer’s Agent and Sellers as your Listing Agent. Just not in the same transaction. Personal representation means just that. Having someone in your corner. A real estate transaction is complicated enough without you having to worry whether your agent is truly representing you or not.

As to my background in real estate. Many of my clients are “first timers”. That includes first time buyers and  folks relocating to the Iowa City area. (In my eyes if you’re relocating to Iowa City it will be the first home you buy a home here, so that makes you a “first timer”). 2011 was a very successful year for me and I helped a growing number of sellers too. In fact I had my best year to date helping more buyers and sellers than in any other of my previous 5 years in real estate. (In a dodgy economy that’s a fact I am quite proud of).

As far as my personality is concerned, I have a real easy time getting along with most people. Originally from the UK, (Wales to be exact), I’ve spent a lot of time in foreign countries, including Hongkong, Singapore and Germany, so I’ve had lots of practice in meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. This might be a good time to mention I speak fluent German too. (Mostly I think I have a typical British accent, but German speakers hear more than that). Anyway, getting back on topic, all the moving around in different countries means that not only do I have experience of meeting people from different cultures and from all walks of life, I also know all about the hassles involved with relocating too. This puts me in a unique position when it comes to understanding your concerns about your move.

I’ve lived in the Iowa City area since 2000 and feel right at home in this very diverse area of the Midwest with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. When it comes to moving it really doesn’t matter whether you’re moving to Iowa from abroad, from another state or whether you are moving in town. There is one constant. You will have concerns. I’m a great listener and whatever comes up I’ll either know how to help, or know where to go to get the help you need. In my book there are no problems, just solutions! Got questions? Give me a call or shoot me an email. I’m here to help.
